Whether contemplating small-scale utility upgrades or city-wide general plan updates, Rebekah’s studies are accurate and thorough, responsive to client needs, and well-documented with technical reports and graphics. Katrina started with Live Oak Associates as an on-call biologist in 2009 and was hired on in 2010. Katrina has managed hundreds of Live Oak Associates projects since 2010 in both urban and natural settings, overseen large and small construction monitoring projects, and managed staff on diverse projects with surveys, trainings, permit compliance monitoring, agency reporting, and agency negotiations. She is a highly trained wildlife biologist who has conducted hundreds of bird surveys for species such as the greater sage grouse (helicopter lek surveys and pedestrian habitat assessment), golden eagle, Swainson’s hawk, western burrowing owl, loggerhead shrike, least Bell’s vireo, tricolored blackbird, and nesting birds. A particular focus for Robert is avian biology; he has led over 1,400 bird surveys, and is familiar with all potential nesting species in California. He has conducted protocol surveys for the Swainson’s hawk, least Bell’s vireo, and burrowing owl, has participated in many burrowing owl passive relocation efforts, and has tracked and mapped golden eagle breeding territories. Robert also has specialized experience with the California tiger salamander and Tipton kangaroo rat and is eligible to obtain permits for their capture and handling. He has performed numerous camera-trap surveys for the San Joaquin kit fox, and is a level II surveyor for the blunt-nosed leopard lizard. Other special status species experience includes the California red-legged frog, foothill yellow-legged frog, Pacific giant salamander, giant garter snake, and coast horned lizard. Robert is familiar with bat acoustic survey techniques, and has conducted numerous such surveys at buildings, trees, and bridges. He has handled many small mammal species, both protected and common. Natalie has participated in wildlife camera trap surveys for San Joaquin kit fox and American badger and monitoring for nesting Swainson’s hawks. She also has experience working with Tipton kangaroo rats, California tiger salamanders, and bats, and is working toward obtaining the necessary permits needed for capturing and handling these species. Natalie obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at UC Santa Cruz. Calvin has participated in burrow excavations for Burrowing Owl and California Tiger Salamander. He has also participated in rare plant species surveys, dip net and seine net surveys for California Tiger Salamanders, construction monitoring, nesting bird surveys, Swainson’s hawk surveys, and Raptor monitoring. Calvin is a dedicated member of the LOA team who is meticulous in the field and is always looking to expand his knowledge.
